What is a School Counselor?

A school counselor is a certified, trained, and caring professional who works with all students, parents, teachers, and the community.  The primary responsibility of a school counselor is to counsel students to fully develop each student's academic, career, personal and social abilities.

School counseling services are delivered in four specific ways:

            School Guidance Curriculum - a guidance curriculum to help students develop their full educational potential;

Individual Student Planning - to guide a student as the student plans, moonitor, and manages the student's own eductional, career, personal, and social development;

Responsive Services - to intervene on behalf of any student whose immediate personal concerns or problems put the student's continued educational, career, personal, or social development at risk; and

System Support - to support the efforts of teachers, staff, parents, and other members of the community in promoting the educational, career, personal, and social development of students.

The counselors of Null Middle School are committed to advocate for all students and provide services in the areas of communication, intervention, and prevention to both students and their families in accordance with district policies, and state and national counseling standards.
