Are you looking for a way to use your computer science background to give back to your community? The Microsoft Philanthropies TEALS Program (Technology Education and Literacy in Schools) supports computer science (CS) education by recruiting and training technology professionals to volunteer in high school classrooms. These volunteers are paired with CS teachers to help high schools in the Houston metro area and nationwide build and grow rigorous, sustainable CS programs.
Training for next fall begins soon! TEALS needs 100+ volunteers in the Houston metro area including Houston, Pasadena, Fort Bend county, and the surrounding area - and we’re only halfway there. There’s bound to be a TEALS school near where you live and/or work!
Apply today by visiting https://www.tealsk12.org/volunteers/. Applications are non-binding and give us the opportunity to work together to discover a support model that works for you and/or your company. In some regions, colleagues have teamed up to support a nearby school as a company outreach – if you and your co-workers are interested, let me know.
Interested, but still unsure? Watch this video to get a taste of how the TEALS program works. TEALS video
