Update on ExxonMobil fire in Baytown earlier today

We would like to provide you with an update on the ExxonMobil incident that occurred earlier today.

According to an article by CNN that was published on its website a few hours ago, the shelter-in-place advisory around the Baytown area was lifted earlier today after monitoring failed to detect "any levels of concern" in the air. Also, the fire had been contained by the evening.

Thank you for your patience and understanding today as district administrators continued to place the safety and security of our students and staff as their top priorities.

Although Sheldon ISD was never part of the initial shelter-in-place advisory that was issued this morning, administrators made a conscious decision to err on the side of caution by keeping students and staff indoors today.

When our students, coaches and athletes return tomorrow for their respected practices, workouts or rehearsals, they will be free to practice outside.

Thank you.
